This tutorial will teach you how to upload an image into the Scrap Girls Gallery.

Choose the gallery category you wish to upload a layout into. If there are sub-category listing, you must choose one. I am going to going into the High Noon Crop and Challenge sub-category.

Once you are in the proper category, click on the New Image button.

You will be shown the image upload dialogue. Enter a title for your image and any information about the image you wish to use. I have indicated that the supply list is in the EXIF properties. This means that I have entered the supply list in my file information while I was creating my layout in my software. of course, you can just type in the supply list in this dialogue.

To embed your supply list in the EMIF properties of your layout using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, go to File>File Information. You want to enter the supply list in the dialogue's Description area. This is a good way to remember this information because you enter the supply list as you are using the supplies. You don't have to go back and figure it out again if you want to upload your supply list on the Internet.

NOTE: The image you upload into the Scrap Girls gallery CANNOT be any larger than 600 pixels wide and 600 pixels tall. It should also be a web quality image, typically 72 dpi. (72 dpi produces clear images.) Do not try to upload a print quality image - 300 dpi. You will receive an error message if you do.

If someone indicates that their supply list is in the details or the EXIF properties, it means the same thing. click on the EXIF property link and you'll see this pop-up appear.

You can find links and code for sharing the layout with others here. The BBCode item is the code you will use if you want to share the layout with us in a forum post.

If you click on your user name, found at the top of the layout, you will be taken to your gallery profile area. You can find all of your albums and layouts here.

I haven't uploaded anything yet but I know this tutorial will be very helpful when I'm ready to share. Question: before discovering this wonderful Scrapgirls site and buying supplies from the Boutique, I bought two CDs of digi-scrapping supplies at a craft store. Is it okay to upload layouts made with supplies other than the Scrapgirls supplies?

I can't get my layout uploaded. I keep getting different error codes each time I try. I made up my layout in Publisher and I don't know how to make the layout upload in your site. Can I get some easy to understand advice please?

Thanks
Deb

When I create my layouts I do them at 300 dpi for printing. How do I change them to 72 dpi so I can upload them?

Yes, DeeMac...that's no problem at all! We understand that not all your layouts may use Scrap Girls products. When listing the credits/ingredients for these layouts, it's fine to list "Such-and-such CD" or "Such-and-such Kit by So-and-So"...but you'll want to leave off links (to places they can buy the items), as that would be against our Terms of Use (TOU).

Hi Deb,
I'm sorry you are having trouble. Unfortunately, without a bit more info, it's hard to say what the problem might be. A couple possibilities:

1. Make sure you are saving your layout as a JPG
2. Make sure the file size is small enough - we recommend 72dpi and no more than 600px wide

Let us know if you have more trouble or give us a bit more info, such as exactly what the error codes are saying (screenshots are very helpful).

Hi! Without knowing what software you use, it's a bit hard to tell you exactly. However, if you are using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, it's a pretty simple process. When you are in either of these programs, go to the very top, to your menu bar. Go to "Image" and then "Image Size". This will open up a window with the exact size of your layout. Change the resolution first to 72dpi (pixels/inch). Then, under "pixel dimensions" change the width to no more than 600 pixels wide. Then click "ok" and save with a new file name as a JPG or JPEG.

In Elements 9, this didn't work for me. The Resize Image (there is no "Image Size" under "Image", just "Resize Image") dialogue wouldn't let me do both size and resolution, so I created a new document at the proper dimensions and resolution, brought my orginal document into this new one and resized it to fit that window. This may not be the easiest way to do it, but it's the one I figured out and it worked for me.

The first time I tried to upload my page I got Error Code 10740. Is there somewhere we can go to find out what the error codes mean? The second time I tried it worked fine. Huh? The second time was 5 minutes after the first time.

Yikes! When I looked at the Gallery just now, it turns out it did upload the first time, even though it gave me an error code, so now it's in there twice! How do I erase one? It looks kind of silly to have it there twice, like I thought I would be more likely to win if I put it in twice...lol.

Help! I've tried twice to upload my layout and both times it tells me it has uploaded, but all I see is the description, no photo. I created my layout in Photoshop Elements 9, from which I have already uploaded 2 previous layouts (although I had trouble with the first one, too). My photo is a jpg, 598x598 pixels, 72dpi. The image information says there is a doc that is 598x598 and 2.1M in there, but I see no photo. I tried twice, so now what? Thanks in advance for your answer.

Well, it's the next day and I tried again to upload the layout and this time it succeeded! The only difference in the document is that I saved it to the desktop instead of its original folder. Is there a limit on how long a pathname can be on a document to upload? Also, the color is very muted compared to my original document. Is there a way to test if the problem is at your end? Guess the lesson is not to wait til the last minute to upload a layout! Glad I gave myself a couple of days. Thank you.
