So the day starts with Andres and Greg driving off for a couple hours to do a job. The time seemed to tick by slowly today. We were all hoping they would be here and not the baby without them.
Diego was sad his Dada was leaving. Adrianna had him sitting on the window ledge to wave goodbye. She told him Tio Greg was coming. Diego was so happy to see him walking to the car but simultaneously unhappy to realize he was also leaving with his dad. Such a sad little guy.
Breakfast and thinking we should take Diego out for a walk and maybe have a picnic. Checked outside to make sure the ground was dry. The recent rains had us thinking maybe outside for lunch on the ground would not be a good idea. But it looks fine. Pooh was buckled into the stroller and got to wear a hat and hold a gun while being pushed by Diego. Takes us ½ hour to get our shoes and jackets on to head out the door and it is raining…Poor Diego. Because it was a light drizzle, he gets to use the little slide at the end of their common grass area after we can dry it off. 23, 24, 25, 26 times he climbs up and goes down the slide. Head back inside for lunch and get Diego ready for a nap. Jasmine joined us for mani/pedis in the front room. Watch a film I hadn’t seen, “Almost or Just Like Heaven”; excellent choice for us girls. We heard from the guys and they know Adrianna is fine and we are glad they are going to be home before too late.
Diego is up and we are ready to go. Out the door and around the building to the soccer field. It is cool, but the sun is out again. We walk with Adrianna and play with Diego. All four women following him, laughing at him, doing what he wants. What a gift it is to be here now. No other schedules to meet, no plans which have to be completed. If we are too close, he tells us to stop so he can climb on the bench by himself. Or, if we are walking too far away he tells us to stop and not leave him. He wants to see us but not have us interrupt his plans. While heading to the other side of the field for more of a walk, Adrianna gets the, “Mom, stop” command. She turns and asks him to give her a besso. He is ¼ field away running till he hears her request and drops right on his seat. She turns and starts walking again. He is up walking again and gives his command. She asks, “Give me a super hug?” Stop and drop. One more time she walks; once more his command. “Hold my hand?” This time he checks the ground before he drops, but down he goes. So calculating. There is a lot of fun going on. Thank you family and Father God for the blessing of this trip.
We hear a bull horn from the kitchen, “Diego”. He stops in his tracks and looks very slowly around, “What?” in an unsure, soft voice. Again, “Diego”. Holding his hand, we begin to run to the house; he knows his daddy is home. He is a little shook by the voice which keeps calling him but he wants to see Dada. We charge around the corner and there are Greg and Andres calling Diego to them. Who will he choose? It must have been the fear of that bullhorn; he went to Greg first and right away to Andres. We played outside again for a bit, then inside for a bit. Greg and Jasmine headed home across the parking lot.
Made a call to Heritage Makers; I goofed and wrote Dinseyland…Found out if the book is returned, it can be reprinted for ½ price. Good solution for a mistake.
We sat down to Julie’s chili and corn bread. At their request, Julie and I opened our Christmas boxes from the Rodriguez’ and watched videos of Diego which had been taken since the day they got the camera in September. The first day was the San Diego Zoo, then getting up in the morning, sledding with the Norris’, unpacking in Germany, dancing and Easter with Hayden were on the menu. A couple boxes arrived with diapers, wipe, a MOBI and a wipes warmer. It was considered a frivolous invention until arriving in Germany; Adrianna now considers the wipes warmer a necessity. They empty boxes provided great entertainment for both Diego and Andres.
Picked another movie I had not seen, “17 Again” and enjoyed an uneventful evening. It is a question we are all asking but don’t want to realize, “How long will he look for us after we have been here for so long?” Diego was down to sleep just after 9, we were just a little after that. It was good to know the guys are home and Isabella can be born on her Great-grandfather Dominic’s birthday now, any time after 12 midnight.
