Monday With An Appointment

Leave Comment
Nice slow morning. Diego slept till 7. Andres had intended to head out on his bike this morning, but the baby didn’t sleep much so he did not either. And while Adrianna intended to be at the doctor by 8 am, she did not get back to sleep till 6am. The doctor’s office called at 8 to say the appointment was at 2pm; there was time. This freed up the morning for fun.

Andres took his bike out and we took off to the park. Andres found a beautiful area he wanted to take us back to see; the GPS went out just before he got there. There was an amazing tree in bloom surrounded by grass. He wanted to go back for a picnic. He tried to find it on google map, but could not.

Diego started off with the same success for his playground time. Just as we stepped onto the pavement in the play area the rain drops started. In mid-step we turned around, his little hand pointing and his face contorted trying to help us understand we were going the wrong way. He got to go down the slide a couple times in the front yard and the drops stopped. Whew! That would have been the hardest return to home we had done yet. But Adrianna said we could go back to the playground and we were all safe! He ran and jumped and slid and, wait-“Hate” (Diegoeeze for Hayden)! The boys played for almost an hour. Each time Hayden got to the area Diego was in and found an interest in the play area he was in, Diego took off for the next area. Small play area, Spiderman bigwheel, bigger play area, sand box, swings… There were also a couple large Nerf guns and swords which the boys just had to play with even though the weapons were larger than themselves. Adrianna had to stay close while Diego was running with the sword; it looked like Diego would take out each of the children he ran up to. They did end up in the sand for a while together, digging, raking, putting sand in the buckets or on themselves. Diego is playing the game right now that if you can not see it, you can pretend it has disappeared. So the rake was gone, his hand was gone, he started on his leg, but it took too long. When it was time to get ready for the doctor’s, we escorted Michelle and Hayden to their door for a nap and brought a disappointed boy home.

Andres made it home in time to eat something and Adrianna was able to feed Isabella and be ready for them to make the appointment on time. Julie got Diego down for a nap and we enjoyed a quiet time till it was time to start it all again. Of course this is when Cesar called; he missed Diego again. But, now he has the code to get the messages from the videophone at home.

Isabella needed a couple shots and pricked for blood; she did not like this at all. But she made it through her hearing test well and her weight is up from 3330 gr to 3500 gr today. This is all very good news. Diego was awake very soon after they returned and he came to join us. He woke up telling Adrianna where his new ‘Rescue Pack’ was in his room. Each time he puts it on for the first time of the day, he walks around showing it to his pony, his Cachow cup, the letters on the frig, Poppa on the video phone. We can’t get a picture of this though, he moves too fast for the shutter. Andres and Adrianna had lunch and Adrianna realized they should not be eating right now because the restaurant opens in ½ hour. Andres decided to eat anyway so he would not need to order 2 meals at the Rose.

Adrianna decided to see how much fun the new bowling set would be. Andres got it set up. There are numbers on the pins which are each different animals. Adrianna had Diego stand to roll the ball at them; little success. So they sat down to try rolling; little more success. Next was throwing the ball; more pins fell. What as next- great laughing as Andres slid Diego into the pins, taking them all out. This took several minutes of experiments and fun. Andres is trying to help Diego identify more than the number 4; Diego is proficient in his animal names and sound which he displayed for us. Then came the tiny Cachow which Andres was able to get running. “Please, ask, thanks”, was his request for Andres to do it again and again. Because he says the last word you say, we need to change our question to, “Do you say please?” Andres holds the front wheels and rotates the car to wind it. Diego tried turning the car over and over in his tiny hands. He had the idea but missed the key point of holding the front wheels.
Took Diego to the playground while Isabella was prepared for her first dinner out at The Rose Restaurant. There was a little girl who wanted Diego to swing with her, but he evaded her requests for most to the time we were there. He did submit for almost a minute. She needed to get her shoes and socks off to join Diego in the sand box; even before she got in, he was gone again to a different area. But she did have fun with him. And suddenly there was a “Diego” call from the far end and off we went to walk to dinner.

Julie, Adrianna and I all had the Spinach Lasagna and Andres has the spaghetti and a pizza. We have lunch with what we brought home. Skipped the dessert this time. We had a nice walk home at 8:15 with all the light of the sun. There was a little sadness. On the stairs down to the front door of The Rose, Julie slipped and rolled down about 5 stairs. We were thankful she was not badly hurt; she kept her head up and scraped her shin. Partway through dinner Julie laughed when she realized her tumble would be the memory recalled next time Andres and Adrianna came here for dinner. On the way home Adrianna slipped just a bit and Julie smiled, but it was a nervous reflex.

One more movie, Bedtime Stories. Adrianna almost made it through the whole thing. Got a photo shoot in during the movie with Diego holding Isabella with Adrianna and a black and white shot with Julie, too. And it is time to sleep- What a great day.
