Andres started the day with over 20 miles on his bike. Adrianna was up cooking with two clean and happy children. Carrie started the day with breakfast at home and coffee prepared by Adrianna, each cup to our own order, and playing with Diego, “Sit Nana”, in his room. Had everyone ready and out the door by 11 with the gas tank full and a letter mailed to Pat and Mike Starr. Stuttgart, the city was our destination. The adventure of the parking lot was our first stop. It is great to all fit in the Expedition, but with the tiny parking garages in the city, it took a few minutes and lots of closed eyes on the part of Carrie to get it into the tiny space. Started at the Pretzel King’s castle and then the Opera House. Walked lots, shopped a little and had an authentic German lunch on a patio with Diego asleep and Adrianna able to eat most of her meal till Adrianna needed her. There were plenty of restaurants with shaded tables we had walked past. And then it took us over a block to find one once we decided that would be where we would eat lunch. Our final stop was the Farmer’s Market with some adventurous purchases. Think we picked up way to many currents (which were pretty and in multiple colors) knowing now that they are very tart and we are unsure of what to do with the boxes of them we have. We got back and Andreina make crustinis for us with fresh baguette, brie, lettuce instead of basil, and tomatoes all from the market. Carrie and Diego headed to the playground for an extended time outside for Diego to run, run, run. There were a few kids there who facilitated learning opportunities including one kid trying to take the wagon Diego was pulling and another handing the shovel to Diego to play with. He was so willing to follow the rules of not going to the older kids’ area and using the rail to navigate the stairs. It was a joy to leave when he was ready, him running to find Tata and have snacks. Then it was bath time after some great buttons as Diego called the berries.
Got to call Arroyo and see Grammie, Ayden, Steven, Sharon and hear Jenn. It was good to know Grammie made it to her flight on time with no problems at all. The last thing they did in Tucson was Aubrey and Eleon showed her a video of Isabella laughing at Eleon. Ayden was happy to see Diego even though it was a bouncy viewing as Diego was jumping on the bed in front of the phone. Victoria held Isabella for the all to coo at, also.
Poor Diego could not get into bed when he and Andres happily ran in to read his book. The Woody, Jessie and Bull’s Eye toys were in his bed and he is afraid of them right now (to the extent that Andres put them on the video drawer, disk player and fan and Diego did not touch them once yesterday. He also told them to go to sleep and not talk to him which they did when Andres made voices for them to remind Diego not to touch the things they were sitting on). This spurred reminders of two stories. One stroller was in Isabella’s room and the double stroller was in the hall. Adrianna told Diego to get in the stroller so they could leave. He left her sight. She calls out from the double stroller, “Diego, come now.” “Ok, Mommy.” He doesn’t come; “One, two, three” and Adrianna hears him call out, “No….” She walks into Isabella’s room to find him buckled into the stroller trying so hard to get it undone. Adrianna says she is not going to spank him, that she is sorry, and gives him a hug. The second event was Andres calling Diego and hears a response that makes them think he is being sassy and choosing not to obey. Calls again; same response. Andres sees him in the hall and does not know why he won’t come. Very annoyed that Diego is disobeying, he heads down the hall and sees Diego’s hand pinned under the gate rail between the rooms and he could not move…
Video games for Andres and Adrianna, stretching for Andreina, Pima College correspondence for Victoria, blog for Carrie and possible early sleep for Cesar. Plans to see a castle tomorrow.
