Ok, this sleeping in thing is a great part of vacationing! Diego slept past 9am again and we ended up with a nice slow morning ending with heading out to Tubingen for the afternoon.

There was a nice drive only about ½ hour away from Adrianna and Andres. The bus and train will be about the same travel time. We had a nice walk down the main street of the campus, found the book store and Victoria made the purchase of a journal with the university info on the cover.

Then we headed down the street for the restaurant museum, but found it will not be open until tomorrow. So we went another block and found a shopping area with several restaurants to choose from for our lunch. Everyone enjoyed their meal and Diego tried ordering some apple juice and wanted a Donald Duck ice cream but we were able to distract him with the beautiful water and flowers which were behind us. There was a light drizzle all day making sitting outside in July an exceptional experience. The walk down and back to the car was so nice. Diego got to “splashy splash” a few times in the puddles. There was no Gummy Bear Store visits today because they closed at 2pm and we would not have had time to shop. So glad we were able to make it to Victoria’s dream campus. So much more important than gummies. And perhaps this will be a strong encourager for her to hold strong to her goal of coming to Germany for her study abroad semester. Glad we remembered to get a picture of her there before we headed home again.

And what did we do when we arrived home? Diego to to greet Hayden in the parking lot when we both arrived at the same time. Isabella was willing to wait a couple minutes while we bantered about shoes and swords. It was time to prepare chicken tacos. Things went along fine until I started chopping tomatoes while waiting for the rice to brown…error in calculating the ability to do two things at once today. So glad Diego came into the kitchen and I needed to look up while asking him to leave the room to be safe; I may not have seen the rice burning until it was on fire if he had not. Needless to say there was much less rice than we expected. Everything else went well. Cesar preformed his stuffing skills with great finesse. Adrianna blended up the spicy salsa from scratch for us. The table was cleared and palates ready. And within an hour or nearly that quickly, we had our meal. The last few minutes waiting for the final tacos to fry, I asked Andres if this was not a hard thing to do (wait for the tacos). He said it was the hardest part. Of course we had a diaper changing need just as we were ready to eat. All agreed it was worth waiting.

Got Diego into the tub and had a positive outcome tonight. He had been afraid of getting his hair washed for the last couple weeks. But tonight he started dumping water on his own head and laughing. We started a game of the bucket being a hat and it “plink”ed as it fell off into the water. He did it again and again, as is the custom of his. Happily he got dried off with clean hair, lotioned up, pajamaed and ran out to give hugs and kisses before he hopped into bed with his books to read. Got through a couple but he would not relent on thinking the Pooh book had to be on the reading list tonight. After praying with him, we ended with Pooh, locking the gate, turning off the light and saying, “Nana loves you”.

Did we make it to cards tonight? No, not tonight either. Perhaps tomorrow before dinner. And we forgot to call Ayden at Grammie and Umpah’s. It is Aubrey’s birthday and we hope to give her a call of celebration. We are giving her tart pans and we also want to make sure we order the type of pan she prefers. Aubrey’s day is one more event we are thankful Jesus gives us to celebrate!
