Diego had Cesar up early at 7:30. They enjoyed their time together with cereal and chatter and some games. The rest of us were ready to head to the store at 11:15, Diego knowing he was getting pretzels soon. Realizing the store was crowded because of lunch, Andres suggested picking up our treats and eating them on our way to his bike mechanic Dirk. Driving away from the store to turn around, Diego knew we had gone passed the pretzels and began letting each of us know…He was relieved when we returned to purchase them. And guess what. Diego was asleep before we got back to the car with them…Poor boy. He gets all ready, finds everyone’s shoes, puts on his jacket and waits as patiently as he can (usually over an hour) for everyone to take him to the car so he can go bye-bye. And this is not the first time sleep arrived before his destination.
The guys got to spend a few minutes in the bike store with no one interrupting them or asking them to go. Happy Diego had his pretzel while we went in to shop for a stein for Cesar and price a new PS3 because this week the one at the house was broken. Only one of these items was purchased and it is the one going home with Cesar. Sorry Andres.
Ran into Kimberly! Found out Zach was in a tennis tournament over the weekend and that was why we did not get to see them Sunday at church. She looked happy and said she is teaching at VBS this week and had wanted to be at church for prayer for VBS staff.
Then we headed to Boblingen for a romp at the park. It was fun to have the lake, dolphin fountain, flowers and greenery, and a playground next to a café. Andres and Adrianna were able to sit with Isabella and Cesar while Carrie and Diego played a while. It was an enjoyable afternoon for each of us. Cesar has his first banana split in years, and there was a shared ice cream and chocolate (similar to a milk shake) and a sundae with strawberries for Andres and Adrianna. Diego enjoyed the cookie which came with the sundae and a few strawberries, a perfect snack for a little guy wanting to get back to ‘running crazy’ and the playground. Diego was very kind and waited for a little girl to take a turn on the slide and came when he was called (for his protection from a group of roughian brothers). He also introduced himself to a few kids, patting them on the shoulder with, “Hi, friend” or, “Hi, nice to meet you. I’m Diego” putting his hand out to shake. He was charming and we enjoyed his company. And why did we head home?
Date night for Adrianna and Andres. Tata took Diego up to the soccer field to run while his parents left for the evening. Isabella was fed and off they headed for downtown Stuttgart. It was a successful trip in a personal time for the couple, a nice new Italian restaurant, and a very reasonable and close parking area (only 1euro per hour). The kids at home had a nice time, too. Diego got a bath and extra stories from Tata while falling peacefully off to sleep. Isabella received her first bottle and passed the “I can be away from Mommy for a little bit” test for the evening. It was a fun way to near the end of our trip.
