Now that I'm scrap booking along with my photography, I see them as a perfect marriage. Photographers must develop, and continue to refine their inner "eye" to view objects and subjects from various viewpoints. When out taking photos, it's a challenge to sometimes find and then shoot an image with the 'eye' to capture it for use in both my graphic design work or as part of a layout. Public parks and gardens are great places, but flowers are not always in bloom, so what then ... am always looking for new ideas ... yours will be welcome.

Great question!
I totally understand. I use scrapbooking to support my memories. Every time I make a page I look at it and ask myself if the scrapbooking stuff enhances or distracts from the memories and photos I'm working with. Sometimes its all about the paper and elements and I end up redoing it till I get it right. For me it HAS to be more about the photo and less about the elements.
Some of my favorite photos I've taken are of late winter/early spring before things have turned green. You can see bold tree branches before the leaves arrive, and the lighting is not as intense as in summer months. When it rains make sure to get out, the wet really encances contours in very cool way... no flowers required! Another unique place for photography I've found is... the dog park. Really. The happy animals are free. They run and play! Bring your zoom and get ready for awesome actions shots where your subjects have pure bliss written on their faces. It doesnt matter if you like dogs or not, give it a try. A little bit of action photography is always a good idea!
All the best,
