We have spent most of the week at the Gaylord National Hotel at Washington National Harbor for a conference. It is a beautiful place and lots of opportunities for great photos.
This is the head of the public art sculpture "The Awakening" by J. Seward Johnson, which is installed at Washington National Harbor on the banks of the Potomac River. It is a 100-foot, 5 piece sculpture (head, hand, outstretched arm, knee and foot, and foot) of a giant embedded in the earth struggling to free himself. It is amazing to see in person, and really is one of a kind. I didn't have the right lens with me to get a wider shot which might have included the entire statue, so I used what I had with me, and a friendly little boy to help me show the proportionate size of the head.
For any of you who might be familiar with the DC area, this is the same statute that has been at Hains Point since 1980. It was bought by the developers of the Washington National Harbor and moved two years ago.
I used my Canon T1i, 55mm - 250mm lens, with a 55mm focal length;
fl 5.6, 1/300 shutter speed,
ISO 200, White Balance: Cloudy
