7/10 - Seasons

This isn't quite as colorful as some, but I've got all the colors. Gosh, that was a gorgeous bench, wasn't it? I think I finally figured out the curved text thing, which is kind of complicated in my software. I think something is missing, but I can't figure out what. It needs some depth, but how? It's a quilt.

Anyway, I used:

BVA_SSPaper_Rippled_Gold_Special

Debbie & Laura St Patricks 2008 Collection

MisticaDesigns Carribean Summer Collection from Scrapbook Flair

MRE_AYO_Beads_Bead_LongMetal, _LongSunset, _

YellowSwirl

Nayyan Hawaiian Dream Collection

I love it! Great job with the colors. Maybe for some more depth, you could use a paper or fabric style on quilt pieces. Just a thought! I love the curvy text!

You used all the colors creatively, and that curved text is fun! I'm wondering how the wavy lines -- stitching? -- would look under the papers instead. Also I'm a stickler for making my pages realistic, so the text going over and off the paper pieces bothers me. The plant sure was a good choice for the color scheme. :)

You did a great job. Perhaps if you beveled the edges of the quilt block it would add some depth. I've not used gimp for a long time, so I don't know what the capabilities are in there. It really is a striking LO!

Aggie, I love this page so much that I went straight to the boutique! (Churn Dash is one of my favorite quilt blocks.) Great idea! That's a beautiful photo, and great job on the curved text and use of color. I really like the bg to go with the natural elements in the photo. If you really want "more" maybe just an added texture layer, like one of the photo templates or SS Paper templates over the bg? That could keep your natural look but add just a touch of the depth you like? This is really super this way, though!

I love your choice of photo for the challenge, and the color blocks and quote you used to frame it. If you want to add depth, you could try adding shadows & holes to the stitches - there are styles and actions available to do that. You could also try Ann's suggestion - add a small bevel to each block; after all, quilts have valleys between the raised areas. And you might try a stitch style on the text to anchor it to the quilt block. You've made a great start, but if you're not happy with the outcome, keep on playing!

Super photo and I love the arrangement! I love the quote and the way it's fit into the framing of stitching rows. Great colours! Awesome! :-)
