This is a photo of my "Grandpa John". The journalling reads: This is my granddad. He is my mother‘s father and according to the family history he ran away from home at the age of fifteen. Only years later did his parents learn that apparently he had hired onto a ship leaving Hamburg for „West Africa“ and served some years in the German colonial army over there. On the photo you can see that he was a rather short man but what he lacked in size he made up in determination. I find, I have a lot in common with him, not least of all a certain sense of adventure...

Really neat to study your LO and you make me want to go on an adventure (just probably in my state and not to Africa!) and I love your stitching to frame it all!

Such an awesome layout, Andrea. That photo is super cool. I love how he is dressed in his military uniform. You did a great job with the embellishments creating a vintage theme.
