This was a fun calendar to do.
I usually buy a ScrapSimple calendar layout template but this year I couldn't find one that was 2011 5 x 7 horizontal, so I decided to take a few of the great ScrapSimple template collections that I already had and mix them together. I remembered that the previous calendar layout designs had at least the following layers: background, middle, photo mask/frame, calendar, and top layer. I made all my date calendars first (using MJO Strip Calendar) with no backgrounds and saved them as png files. Next I chose a ScrapSimple paper from USC Grunge Guru 2-Old Doors and used it on each month. Then I used all the papers from MRE Downtown Collection to have a little something different on each one. I also used all the Photo Masks in DCA Creative Grunge Photo Mask Collection and topped it off with DMI Edgy 5. I fixed all my templates for each month and then went through and had fun clipping and adding photos, embellishments and color.
So if you don't see exactly what you are looking for in the boutique (a 5 x 7 2011 Calendar), I'm sure you can find other items that can work just fine. Mine isn't as good as the fantastic calendar layout designs in the boutique, but I think it worked out ok.
