This week's Challenge is to use color blocking on the LO. I used Cherise Oleson's Blessings Album Template to attain my blocking pattern. Let's see your color blocking pages too!

Journaling reads:

The 2011 Battle of the Books was quite an event. The participants had read as many as 15 books and practiced numerous questions during their lunchtimes with hopes of reciting the titles and author names skillfully. Twelve teams gathered for the 3rd and 4th Grade Battle on January 18 in the Elementary School Commons. Great excitement filled the room. Mrs. Jessup and Mr. Batchelder conducted the Battle with each team having a chance to earn points on each question. By the end of the first half, 4 teams were tied for the lead with 32 points. Both Kristen's and Bethany's teams were among the leaders. After the second half, Kristen's team finished in 5th place (out of 12!) and Bethany's was tied for first. When the dust settled after the 4-question tie breaker, Bethany's team (Team H) was victorious! Congratulatioms to all who participated in the 2011 Battle of the Books!

This is really great, Debbie! What a great idea for a challenge! I love your color blocks and the blue toned photo. Love the journaling and sounds as if they had a really fun challenge as well! Love the way you worked in the year and title in a subtle manner. Love the arrows leading me around the page, and the crossword puzzle circle is inspired!

I'd forgotten how much I liked color blocking. Thanks for the reminder. The vivid colors in your layout really go well together and the photo treatment is icing on the cake.

Great job! Love the color blocking. I had a teacher named Mrs. Jessup in Santa Susana, California. One of my favorite teachers. Karen

This is really neat! It would challenge me to use color like this. And one of my DDs did BOTB a few years ago and her team won their elementary and then won the school district. Fun times! (I wonder if I have photos...)
