This was hard to do ... to get a body part in with the photo!! But after shooting 54 pictures I think I finally got it!! So as you don't have to guess ... in keeping with New Year, New You - one of my long time dreams has been to learn to play the mountain dulcimer. I have always enjoyed their beautiful sound. Well for my birthday this year (Jan 16) my darling hubby bought me a dulcimer and I am learning to play and I'm LOVING it!! So here is a picture of my new baby - she is a McSpadden 4 string and she sings a sweet melody that sooths the heart.

Lighting - I sat by a south window this morning. It is grey out with snow clouds, but I'm please with the lighting on this one as compared to the last one (portrait) I took.

Oh, this is so neat--great picture and that you are playing this! My daughter learned to play the dulcimer--she quit this year for a guitar--only 14 so I let her, but I sure miss hearing the dulcimer in our home!

What a difficult instrument to learn. A friend of mine travels around SE America playing his one - has a few CD's out and I love listening to them! Very calming.
You know what struck me about this photo? I love the way you've placed the dulcimer - the grain in the floor (?! think it's the floor) goes the opposite way as the wood on the dulcimer, and with your hand coming in on the corner - what a great touch! Well done!! And congrats on your new present!!
