An old picture that by the grace of God, survived when I lost my home. I wanted to start a memory book on my son, Danny's life. While serving time on the USS Comfort (the Navy's hospital ship), Danny always grew a full mustashe. Being his mom, I preferred him with his smooth face! I have used the faded out picture of Danny in a traditional layout page. I did a two spread page with him holding Tori moments after her birth, and one at home with the children gathered around admiring these baby sister. It has been 17 years since we lost him, and I wanted to record what I could of his life for his children. I have done two or three traditional scrapbooking pages, but this is my first digital one.

THE JOURNALING READS:

Danny was allowed leave to be with his family when Tori was born. He assisted in the delivery. Here he is in his OR scrubs moments after her birth. He called home shorthly after Tori's birth, and while telling me all about the experience, said: "You should see her mom, she is beautiful! And, I don't care what anhyone says, I am giong to spoil her rotten!

When Danny and Sissy arrived home, the children, Brandon and Jordon, were excited to see their parents and brand new baby sister.

Oh, Bess - it's such a sweet and lovely layout - it made me cry - beautiful memories that you capture so well in your layouts. It's bittersweet to do layouts like you are doing but has to be a little bit healing too, isn't it? What a sweet story you have to tell - and you do it so beautifully.

This really is such a beautiful page. I love how you've blended the background and turned the page upside down (I never thought of doing that.) What a wonderful way to honor your son.

What a touchingly beautiful photo and layout -- I'm so glad you had this photo to scrap.

I love what you did with the freebie. I was wishing you would consider typing the journaling with your notes above, because it is too small to read on my small screen.

Nevertheless, it is a special page - I love your beautifully blended background, too...

Oh Bess this is really really lovely. It, to me, is what scrapping is all about. This is so nice that you are doing this for Danny's children. So very very special. Thanks for sharing this with us and I hope that the challenge made it a little easier to do. It is a really special page.
