"I Got a Job"

With the drama of a 17 year old, my FIL tells his mom he got a job. (I believe it's in a copper pit or mine, but am not completely certain.)

Supplies in EXIF, thanks for stopping by!

Friday -

Dear Mother-

The worst has happened, I have a job. Wensday we ran into Mr Wimber and he said that he would give me a job, so tomorow, (Sat) I start work on the night shift, mucking on the 500 level. So now I have to work for a living. All that I have to get is a pair of pants and a pair of shoes. As soon as I get setteled I will write you and tell you how to reach me. Then you can send me some socks and some shorts, shirts and hankerchiefs. Try and get Bud's hardboiled hat for me. Tell Bud also that I will send his suit case back to him on Uncle Ray's next trip out herre. That will be in July. If he needs it before that, let me know and I will send it to him. Otherwise everything is OK unless you can send me my old glasses in a case. They are in a box on my table.

Right now there is about four inches of snow on the ground outside. It has been snowing ever since about Six Oclock. It is now a few minutes past eleven, and it doesn't look as though it is going to stop. The V.F.W. (American legion) is having a convention here and there sure is a lot of noise floating around. This morning we went to Ruth where we saw the copper pit. It doesn't even compare with the one at Bingham. There isn't so much else to see around here. I have run into quite a few people around here that I know, Bill Starbuck; he was in Elko, while were there about six of my fraternity brothers passed through on their way to the army camp at Montery. Then I saw Bob Sprat who was going to the fair. Mr Schienbrock (you remember Jim) was here at the hotel. I saw Johnny Coleman when we were in Piochle(?) yesterday. Then I know a girl who lives in McGill. I think that I will get along allright, so don't worry about me.

Anything else you want to know ask Ray about them, so as soon as I am setteled I will write again.

Love

Rolland

Wow! What a fantastic piece of history! You can just hear the teen angst in his words--some things are just timeless. Beautiful layout.

Barbara, what special memories you have to scrap! I I loved reading Rolland's letter and how clever the way you photographed it!

Your background and embellishments are just perfect! What a wonderful family history you are preserving and I am so enjoying each and every page.
