I See ~ Monday "Senses" Challenge

What a great challenge this was! I was reminded of a meditation exercise I did in July of 2009 ~ we were to walk around our environs for a period of 20-30 minutes, taking note of everything we could that involved our 5 senses. We were then asked to write about what we observed, what we would miss without that sense and what we were grateful for. I've revisited what I penned 2 years ago and pulled from it my experiences regarding just 1 sense. I've challenged myself to do 4 more layouts for the others.

I showed my mother my layout this morning and she double-dog dared me to leave it just as it is, without adding one more element, stroke, mask or word. She said, "sometimes less is more and simple is better". What do you think?

Thank you for looking and sharing what it is YOU SEE.

Journaling:

I SEE

Every imaginable shade of green

against the brown & grays of bark and trunk.

Billowing clouds shifting slowly

from right to left, changing shape ~

whispering silver linings through suns rays.

The worn bench upon which I sit ~

at once red, revealing yellow fungus & browning mold.

Shadows of dangling feet

and the dry patchy ground they don’t quite touch.

Remnants of a long-gone dandelion ~

white cotton puff slowly finding the breeze.

Your mood in the language of your body ~

Your gaze constant as we embrace.

Blinded, I could only imagine a rainbow ~

the brilliant blue in your eyes.

Day could be night ~ night could be day.

Treasuring this ominous gift,

I have memorized every line in your face ~

each nuance in your glance.

It is the eyes that bare your soul.

Count me in with your Mom. This is beautiful in every way. Your journaling is though-provoking as is the placement of your objects/embellishments. I look forward to seeing more of your layouts.

A very intriguing LO Karis. Clever how youve placed the word blinded over the eyes. A page worth stopping and really LOOKing at.
