My Dad has always shared stories about his childhood. As he gets older, he seems to enjoy reminiscing even more. Even though I’ve heard the stories dozens of times before, they are beginning to take on much more importance. There are still many things that I don’t know. I have so many questions that only he can answer. So, on a beautiful, sunny day we set out on a road trip to visit the neighborhoods of his youth.

As we drove by each of the many homes he lived in during his childhood, he eagerly shared cherished memories of his early years. I was amazed by how many tiny details he remembered from so long ago. It was clear that Dad left a piece of his heart in each of these family homes. I took pictures of the houses that day and wanted to use them in my layouts. In New Orleans, many of the street signs are made of wonderful old tiles set in the concrete sidewalk and I was able to show them in one of the layouts. I couldn’t get the effect I wanted with paper scrapping, so this is where my interest in digital scrapping first began. It seems fitting that these should be my first layouts posted.
