Aging Well - left page

This page is in the quote challenge because I started with the right page, quote in mind - details with that page.

This photo was taken of five five friends in the summer of 1960 - we think; it may have been 1961. We know it's summer from the dresses, but we can't remember where we were going all dressed up. I'm on the left, followed by Pat, Paula (it's her living room), Linda, and Candy. The four of them came to our house earlier this month for a mini-reunion. We complained and laughed about the difficulties of growing old, or at least older, but decided that it's definitely better than the alternative, and we're all doing fairly well. Hence, the song lyrics. My sister sent me a recording of this song, performed by Joan Baez and Dar Williams, back when I was still in my fifties (she's 10 years younger :P ) and I was a bit disgruntled at her suggestion that I was aging, but I love the song.
