Halloween 2011 left page

Recently in the newsletter there was a lo of a tooth fairy silhouette that looked punched out from the background paper that was very cool! I scrap-lifted that idea and have done this page I'm attaching. I'm not happy with mine tho... how do I make the silhouette look "punched out" instead of looking like it is a black die cut I've placed on the page? Is it a shadow adjustment? or an emboss adjustment? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. :)

Nana I can answer you, but I had to go back and see what I did...LOL Slept since then.

I actually placed the fairy on the page, enlarged it, then made a direct selection (Hold down control, then click on the layer in the layers palette) Once selected I hit delete to remove that part of the paper, then removed the fairy and just added a shadow to the paper.

I think you did a great job, I love how you used it for your journaling.
