JJ5_Christening Day and Dress

Fun challenge. Here's the dress I made for Maeve which she wore on her Christening Day...perfect fit since the sleeves were adjustable with a satin ribbon. It's made of Swiss Batiste (very wrinkly, but gorgeous,) French laces, Swiss embroidered insertions and Swiss entredeux. I didn't keep track of how many hours it took to sew, but it was fun (other than the white thread on white fabric blindness.) I didn't get a picture of the matching bonnet, nor the crystal cross necklace...what was I thinking? Oh, I know- she was anxious to get out of the frills! You never saw a baby get dressed and undressed so fast as her Mommy and I dressed and undressed her!

Journaling: December 4, 2011, you were baptized Maeve Loren at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church. Here you are in a picture with your Godmother, Farrah, wearing the Swiss Batiste Christening gown made by your Grandmother Dorothy. You wore a matching handmade bonnet and a tiny Swarovski Crystal cross given to you by your Grandmom, and you were beautiful.

What a pretty christening gown! The b&w photos show so much detail. Of course the photo of the baby wearing it is much cuter! I like the alpha & the plant embellishments and the red background.
Oh, my! I've been waiting and waiting to see this beautiful dress you made with such love! It's absolutely gorgous, Dot! I can't believe how much Maeve has grown since the last picture I saw of her and her Mommy looks so tiny to have just had that little one! Precious layout, Dot.
You did a great job on the layout and the dress. Beautiful gown for a beautiful baby. Of course, the expression on Maeve’s face is more like “get me out of here”. She is such a cutie. You are blessed.
Love the light burst... it seals the deal! I can't believe you made that dress-- it's stunning!
Beautiful job photographing that exquisite dress. I like the way the light peeks through so we can see the details. I knew that you did heirloom sewing, but, gosh, Dot, this is so gorgeous! Maeve looks like an angel in it. I like the touch of a dove -- so appropriate for a Baptism - and the rest of the layout, too. Beautiful job all around.
Maeve is gorgeous, Dot and so is that exquisite christening dress you made her. I love the detail and ruffles and all the dainy touches. How special for Maeve to have a dress her Grandma made that someday she can dress her own baby in to be baptized... Precious.
I love your layout, too and being able to see beautiful Maeve in her dress with her Godmother who looks so proud.... (Although you're right - Maeve looks like she's about had it with her outfit!)
Beautiful, beautiful dress. This is one to save and pass down the generations. You can't help but smile at Maeve's expression - Her feelings perfectly expressed! Photographing the dress with a black background was a very good idea - the details are luscious. Lovely journaling and scripture.
wow - takes my breath away that dress.... just stunning Dot! Your layout does it justice, the lightburst, the quote and the dove, even the little cross in the light burst - beautiful... I really enjoyed the journalling too, so personal and heartfelt :-)
Beautiful LO for a beautiful gown and baby! So many hours of love all bundled up in that dress!
I love it all! But, especially the pictures. Wonderful!
