i have 2 versions of this one as well, which do you think is better? i'm torn between the two, but can only use 1. suggestions?

I like this one better. The big photo is a nice contrast to the smaller one, and I like just the black framing your photos. If you want to use the third photo, you could add it to the right. Just make the square photo smaller and add another block of color next to the square (the gray on the left edge?), and then add the longer photo below on the right. You could use the square of color for your date. This is just a suggestion. Both layouts are nice. :)
