JJ Task #24

I enjoyed learning about my camera and taking photos in different light conditions, so decided to make my layout about that. I concentrated on one of the techniques: forcing a flash in bright daylight. Of course, now that I know how to do that, I've been snapping indoors without flash, outdoors with... etc. All of it has been interesting and lots of fun. Thanks for looking!

Journaling reads: I experimented with forcing a flash in bright sunshine. What I discovered was -- sometimes it’s a good idea, and sometimes it’s not. I like how the flash filled in some of the deep shadows in the purple lantana. On the other hand, I preferred to see some shadow on the sun plaque because the shadows help highlight the carving. That’s one of the best things about a digital camera. We can try different things and get instant results!

Nice layout! I love to see what people learned from this challenge! Oh to see some bright sun and flowering plants this time of year (I'm in Iowa-haha) Love the embellishments you chose.

Beautiful layout, and a neat technique. Thanks for the mini-lesson in photography. I'm going to have to give this a try. I really like that you scrapped your experiment.

Oh yes we wouldn't be half so brave if we had to pay for processing would we? hurrah for digital! I agree with you about the relative merits of fill flash. Great work with your camera and great page to record it.

Beautiful layout and beautiful photos. I love that sun face and I agree with you about the shadows on the face. Makes it more interesting. I'll have to check out the force flash in sunlight. Since I do a lot of outdoor scenery shots, this would come in handy. Your multi-color background paper is gorgeous and I love the vine creeping up the side of your photo.

Wow, this is beautiful, Diane -- a tutorial and gorgeous layout all in one! I love the beautiful background you chose and your photos are really lovely. I also really like the vines flowing down the page and the pretty butterfly. Wonderful layout! :)

I like your idea to use the LO to illustrate what you learned. I haven't really experimented with fill flash either & I agree that it looks great with the flowers but not as good as the contrast for the sun. Neat!

Thank you for sharing! I have learned a little more about lighting and flash with this challenge. I like that you showed the varying fill differences! Pretty background. The laurels down the side add a nice touch!
