Journaling:

Notes I used for journaling were on the back of the frame and in my mother's hand writing:

 

This is Aunt Ella Kesler.

Technique:

The photo was scanned with my Flip Pal portable scanner. I was unable to remove the photo from the frame, so I scanned (overlapping per directions) ten separate sections and used the Stich feature to join it all into one image. I was afraid I would get glare from ambient lighting, so I lay the photo/frame on the dining table and turned off the lights while I scanned. The original frame is 8 3/4 by 11 3/4 inches.

 

I had to edit the color in PSE 9, it came out way too pink. All it involved was moving the slider a bit away from the red end of the spectrum.

Looks like it scanned very nicely. That was a great idea to copy what was written on the back of the frame. I've gotten to where I scan the backs of old photos now, too. So clever the way you tucked the glasses into the pocket!

OK, so when I just commented on your fishing LO I remembered I'd seen this one on my iPod where it's so hard to type, but I wanted to be sure to comment, so I came looking for it now!

Wonderful! I read the other day how you'd scanned the photo in the frame and in so many pieces.. WOWEE -- could never tell - it came out great! I've only tried the stitching once with my flip-pal and the painting was on the wall so it was hard to hold my arm steady. But, yours -- it's stupendous and what justice it did to a very special pic. Your editing is super and I really like how you framed the photo. I also really love where you placed your journaling. I've been paying attention - read when you said you weren't sure what to do with it, but gee - it's perfect on the fancy card, in pretty script and tucked behind the frame. And, I really like the spectacles tucked into the dainty pocket- what a perfect touch...

I just love everything about this page - it's really stunning......

Wow - this turned out great! Thanks for letting us know how you did it. I love the layout and think it's a wonderful idea to include the information on the back of the picture. Sweet embellishments and pretty background, too.

This is a beautiful layout. The photo is wonderful and I love how you added the eyeglasses and the scrap of paper you used for the eyeglass holder. Beautiful! The background paper is gorgeous with the lacy ribbon across the bottom. I love heritage layouts, and this one is incredible. Fabulous work with the stitching of the photo. When I get my income tax refund, the FlipPal is the first thing I plan on buying.
