Re-JUNE-venate: Layout 4 - "Great Blue Heron"

I was so amazed to see this Great Blue Heron in a small pond in Caldwell, NJ right next to a playground! I stopped and of course took numerous photos. :D Later I learned that the bird comes back each summer. Who knew? :)

To color the SS paper template I used the June 22 NL tutorial - Coloring Paper Templates but was also greatly helped by the thread Carol started -- Trouble with Templates

I used a photo and paint bucket layer to clip and color the template. I also managed to sneak in the Tuesday Freebie - can you find it? :)

For this layout I used:

COL SS Paper Templates: Naturally Handmade

ABL Feathered Friends Paper

SNU Brush Set: Painted

BMU Coastal Collection Biggie

BHA Camp Trip Collection Mini

COL SS Embellishments Treasure Trinkets Special

and my own photos

Great photo of the GBH! I've tried so many times & I always seem to see them knee deep in the water & with the daylight fading fast. We used to have one in a small pond next to a major highway. They are such cool-looking birds. Love the greens, the whole thing just glows.

Beautiful layout and I'm glad that was of some help to you. That bird is just gorgeous and I've seen a few of them around here in New York. And I found the freebie. It's on the bow. You did a fabulous job and I love the texture that you gave the layout. WOW!

That recolouring looks wonderful... it has the look of reeds and the beautiful green glow but also the soft texture that almost looks water affected... very fitting... Stunning photo, I would have been impressed to see that too! It looks quite young that bird so it must like it's special spot :-) Great colours and textures to show off your gorgeous photo, love the ribbon and the teeny weeny embellishment freebie. Great page.

Well, you knew I was going to love this page, didn't you? :D You did a fantastic job with the coloring! Never fear SS paper templates again!! This one has such a lovely woodsy look and that green is glorious. Gorgeous photo. I love how you "framed" it with the beautifully textured paper. Great embellies, too -- and, yes, though it took me a minute or two, I do see the freebie, hee hee. Clever you!

What a lovely nature LO. I like the way you stayed with a monochromatic LO so the bird really stands out against all the green.

First, straight into my favorites. Wow. I LOVE that you kept it monochromatic. Beautiful photo and just amazing that you saw the heron. I like the blending into the photo, the few drops of water and the wonderful shades of green. I DO see the Tuesday freebie- very clever and just right!! I like your font choice very much, too. Great job with the challenge, Marilyn!

This is really gorgeous. I love the depth and shine of the greens in the background paper and in your photo. Great job catching the heron. I tried sneaking up on one the other day and it took off before I could get a good shot. Love your tree embellishments and the freebie.
