Task 19_ReJuneVenate

I used Syndee's Converting a Color Photo to Black-and-White Using a Black-and-White Adjustment Layer on the photo, but it's hard to tell since the pic was so small and I lowered the opacity of the vignette quite a bit. But, I also used it on the background paper and had more fun playing with that for the past two days! I loved using Elisha's Coffee House Collection Biggie for this LO. Learned lots- great challenge!

(A Paul Harvey moment : what I didn't journal was that Mom always said that I loved coffee even as a baby, and Dad always said, "but I could never get you to try beer." ;) Hahaha, I miss that guy!)

I love this LO! The fluidity is PERFECT! ...I had to laugh at the comment about the beer...sounds sooo like my own father... He was promoted to Heaven this past March. I miss that guy too!

Dot, this is so beautiful. Love the brick background paper. That frame is gorgeous and your photo done in b&w is just lovely. You did a fabulous job for this task. Great use of the coffee cup and steam blended into the background. Love all of the elements and the coffee beans spread around the page. Wonderful!

Dot what a funny story - I enjoyed reading your notes! Love the background you chose and the treatment and framing of your photo looks great. Your title is hilarious - how creative! And, I really like the embellishments you used and how you tied in the pic. Wonderful layout! :)

LOL, Dot! Love that story!

OK, this is a tut I must try; your results are fantastic! I especially like how you've brought out the texture of the brick. Great cluster and embellies. You do realize I want to pour myself a cup of coffee right now, don't you?

By the way, I love the elegant frame you've given your photo. Quite appropriate, in my opinion.

This is a lovely LO Dot - I've always liked your little Avatar because you look so smily and happy. This page does it justice and the story behind it is great. I too am a coffee drinker from early childhood. My grandmother gave me something called Camp Coffee which was a mixture of coffee and chickory (a relic of wartime austerity I think). and it came in liquid form in a bottle. You poured a teaspoon of this into a cup instead of the teaspoon of granules. Gran then poured over boiling full cream milk and added several spoons of sugar. I loved it! Over the years I've weaned myself off the sugar and replaced the cup of whole milk with water and a dash of low fat milk for the sake of my waistline but I still remember that drink with great affection. Time to get the kettle on I think............!

I love your story! You really should add that to your page. I only began drinking coffee a few years back, but I am hooked, nothing better than sitting down with a hot cup of coffee! Great layout!

Fun page! I like all the coffee touches you added as well as the touch of journaling about you liking coffee as a baby. Thanks for passing along the tutorial link; I want to try out this technique, too.

WooHoo! Love your dad! Great job on the LO. I never though about using the technique on the papers instead of the photo. That made a really neat effect.
