One of my grandfathers was a Carter! Small world. Love the black and white & especially the checks. The curl & swirl is very elegant, also.

Such a great photo for it's time... I love how they always vignetted the photos in those days (or did you do that!?!)... great use of the ephemera to give us a feel for the time, the finger/flourish/clock are all just wonderful... like the title placement and the strong use of the albeit neutral palette - this is truly a GENTLEMAN'S page :-)
