July ATC Fond Memories -- Screendoor Memories

July ATC Fond Memories -- Screendoor Memories

There aren't many, if any, wooden screendoors on front or back porches these days. Most are made of aluminum if anyone still has a screen door. But back in the 40's and 50's, most screendoors were made of wood. There was a certain sound when it slammed shut. That is the sound that brings back fond memories of my Grandmother. In the summer, that door would slam shut hundreds of times during the course of a day with all of us kids running in and out of the house. The backyard was a special place for us in the summer. Lightning bugs were all over the place and we would chase them on those warm summer evenings. Hydrangeas were in full bloom along with the Iris, Roses, and my favorite of all, Peonies. I can still see ants crawling all over the new Peony buds. Aah, such sweet memories.

Ah yes, 'don't slam the door'. And we always did. Too funny!
We don't have screen doors here, so I can't imagine the sound but I love your card, it reminds me of summer. beautifully done.
Oh! And remember the spring "screech" "boing" depending on how wide you opened it. The bottom of the screen always got pushed out. Great memory and card, Carol. We do have screen doors, but they are aluminum now. We got rid of the wooden one about 20 years ago. LOL
Carol, what a wonderful ATC and memory. I just love your descriptive journaling and summer embellishments you used. You've painted a lovely picture with your words and creation.

Yes, I remember that too. Brings back such wonderful memories, along with some tears, for those long ago days.
This is really great. My Gram had a wooden screen door too, hadn't thought of it in forever - thanks for bringing back the memory. Beautifully done!
