There aren't many, if any, wooden screendoors on front or back porches these days. Most are made of aluminum if anyone still has a screen door. But back in the 40's and 50's, most screendoors were made of wood. There was a certain sound when it slammed shut. That is the sound that brings back fond memories of my Grandmother. In the summer, that door would slam shut hundreds of times during the course of a day with all of us kids running in and out of the house. The backyard was a special place for us in the summer. Lightning bugs were all over the place and we would chase them on those warm summer evenings. Hydrangeas were in full bloom along with the Iris, Roses, and my favorite of all, Peonies. I can still see ants crawling all over the new Peony buds. Aah, such sweet memories.
