Habana Veija: 28/7 Colour Challenge

I promised myself that I'd add jounalling - Debbie's been hinting that I should! Journalling is my achilles heel, so this is shamelessly scraplifted from Ange's lovely Summertime

The journalling says:

I was lying on the Downtown Beach in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas when the idea that I should do something out of character, something so different and spur of the moment that it would surprise and even shock those who thought they knew me well. The idea was to continue my solo travel into Cuba, the modern day heart of darkness. Nobody I knew had been there, I'd almost be breaking new ground. The idea was irresistable. On 12 July 2004 I landed in Havana.

Fabulous page! The photo is perfect for this challenge! It's an amazing view. I love the blending, and how the border paper pulls it all together. But you KNOW what my favorite part is, don't you, Eden. That journaling brings so much to what would otherwise be just a nice, interesting page. The journaling captures a sense of adventure that brings the picture to life. And it tells about you as a person...that's amazing! Thanks for risking and journaling on your page (not just in the description of the LO!). YOU get bonus points for stepping out of your comfort zone!!!! ;)

Eden you always impress me... not only is your sketch effect wonderful on this fabulous urban view but your journalling makes it so exciting!!! I love how you highlighted the colours of the rooves and awnings and yet kept it all so subtle... you are the Mistress of Arty!

AHhhhhh Eden - how lovely. Your photo/sketch is beautiful and I so enjoyed reading your words. Great job on the journaling (I sure understand - journaling is my weak point and I usually avoid it!) and I enjoyed reading about your exciting and suprise adventure! How cool. :) I really love the creative and artistic feel to this page - your blending is gorgeous and I love how gorgeously you put together your background. Super layout - I enjoyed going through it. :)

Oh my! I Love the sketch/blended look, so perfect for "vieja" Havana. You've done this so well that I'd love to scraplift it but know I couldn't get close to the effects you've achieved here. Gorgeous coloring! I especially like the subtle touches of the birds. The subtle background circle ties it all together and your journaling adds excitement and a little mystery to the page. This layout is such a treat to see that I don't want to leave it!

Oh, my gosh, this is gorgeous! It caught my eye right away in the gallery & I just love it. Like Diane says, it's so worthy of scraplifting, but I lack the talent. Sigh. The muted colors with the sepia text & flowers - the orange border, just lovely! Your journaling is great, too - very interesting & a neat font, too.

What a lovely page! I love the photo blending with all the different actions, leaving just touches of color. I also like flowers on the side, the title and the grungy feel. I'm glad you added the great journaling!

I love how it turned out! I am glad you gained inspiration from my LO. :) Yours turned out so perfectly and I enjoy seeing your take on the arrangement. I especially like the big flowers you used in the corner and the color choices.

Oh my goodness, I just saw this and have already added it to my favorites. It is absolutely gorgeous. I really don't know where to start. If journaling is your weakness, you would never know it. You described it beautifully and made me realize how I need to step up. :)

Stunning! Love everything about this - the framing around the edge, the sketchy photo, the subtle circle in the background, and the details like the bird at the end of the journaling.
