The city is incredibly beautiful as the lights come on to illuminate the buildings & fountains. The Seine boats are harsh to look at, though. They have a row of high-powered mercury vapor and sodium vapor lamps on both sides, aimed upwards, to light the banks even more. I have to believe there must have been quite an uproar when these were introduced. As we were walking along the river, I told Sean he’d really have to try to remember this. He thought a moment, looking around, and said “It’s very classy”. I don’t have to worry now if he’ll remember…
