CSC 9/14/12 Harold Jeffries Crips

I've made a rule for myself not to participate in challenges unless I can quickly visualize how to apply the challenge topic to one of the long list of albums I'm working on; yesterday was an exception. Today's CSC was perfect! I need to complete more pages for the album featuring my mother's family and ancestry. And this one was relatively easy, because I scraplifted - essentially copied and pasted - my grandmother's page here for my grandfather's part of the album. These pages may - or may not - wind up facing each other, but I wanted them to coordinate, even if they're separated by pages showing other parts of their lives.

Supplies for the two are essentially the same, and listed in EXIF. I substituted Brandy Murry's Aged Metals styles for Melissa Refro's copper styles to make the page a bit more masculine, and I flipped the elements and rearranged slightly.

Thanks for the challenge, and the stimulus, Patsy! I needed it.

I'm glad you decided that this challenge would progress your albums. I was really interested to see your story, it somehow reminded me of Willa Cather's "My Antonia". Maybe because so much of the story is guess work and the Iowa setting.

Jo this is a great page, the challenge has certainly paid off for you here! The colours are gorgeous and I really like how you have the blended tree on the backing paper... that is a wonderful photo too, so clear and crisp... I enjoyed reading your story too :-)

Interesting journaling and lovely layout. I love the swirls behind the photo and the brads. I wish I had asked my Mom more about her family. At least I'm journaling for my grands and great grands.

Wonderful page to capture a piece of your family history! I like all the journaling you included with the photo. I also like the velum you used for journaling and the blended background.
