Journaling:

The taiko Community Group is celebrating our 1-year anniversary! A group of us have been learning and playing together since September 2011, while other members have come and gone throughout the months. To celebrate this 1-year milestone, we held a party at the taiko studio after the last class of summer session. The party was a potluck - everyone pitched in with food: garden salad, pizza, chips with dip, salsa, and hummus, chickpea salad, slaw, fruit, pumpkin bread, cookies, Nutella gooey butter cake (my contribution), and sweets/treats all the way from Japan, including some interesting Matcha green tea KitKat bars! Several of the performance group members came to party with us. After we had our fill of food, we moved into the practice room and jammed on the taiko for a couple hours! We played the entire repertoire of songs that we’ve learned the past year, practiced our oodaiko improvisational skills in a solo drum-off, and snapped lots of photos! Most importantly, we just had fun as a group enjoying this hobby that brought us all together!

I love the style to this page, the bright blue peeking out from the sideof all those wonderful photos... you fit so many pictures in but it doesn't look crowded at all... it flows beautifully... the flags and the journal card are just right, congrats on your year!

Great photos! I was so glad to have heard a bit of your concert (on the computer) -- taiko is fascinating. I like the way the pennants look with the freebie paper. Interesting journaling, too.
