Sept. 29th Color Challenge

For the last color challenge of September, I challenge you to use white, grey and navy blue! I took this photo at the World War II Monument in D.C. last week when I took my mom there to visit. At first, I tried to cut the man out of the photo, but then I realized how much he added to the photo! There was a group there from Honor Flight and I just had to include him in my photo after all.

Journaling: I don’t know who you are, but I want to thank you for your service. It’s your generation that had it so hard, fighting for your country without the modern day communication with your loved ones. There is just something about this photo that gets me every time.

Oh Carla, I have a lump in my throat after reading that... the inscription on the monument and the man standing in it. I do love your colours and the funniest bit is I nearly used those wonderful grunge blocks too (I never look at other people till I have posted mine so I wouldn't have known!)... I love the masculinity the grunge gave this and the cement feel against the harsh monument with the human spirit provided by the mystery stranger. Outstanding.

I love the grunge bringing this together from top to bottom, bringing the focus into the middle. I agree that the photo is fantastic just as presented. Wonderfully done.

Just lovely, Carla. I agree...the presence of the man adds a whole new depth to the page. Your journaling is quite touching. Thanks for the honest reflection on your page (written by a true military wife!). I think this man would be honored by your thoughts.
