Week Four Layout -- Sleepy Hollow Cemetery

I love Sleepy Hollow, NY. It's such a fascinating place to visit. The cemetery is very large and beautiful. There are lots of interesting folk buried there. Among them is Washington Irving, the author of 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow'. Some of the graves are so old, that the inscriptions on the headstones are unreadable. There are also memorials to those who perished in the American Revolution and also the Civil War. I found the revolution memorial and the photo is the one that I turned Sepia and has the star burst behind it. I love cemeteries and I love to walk through them and look at the dates on the headstones. Even when I'm on vacation, if I see a cemetery, I have to stop and visit. My friends and I are taking a Trolly Tour through one of the largest cemeteries in New York, Woodlawn Cemetery in The Bronx.

I turned one of the photos to Sepia. I added brush work, styles, shadows. I also added three embellishments and duplicated them three times each.

Supplies Used:

SG Autumn Collection Biggie -- Papers -ABR Stacked, ASO Leaves -- KVE Journal, BHA Leaves

BMU Brush Set -- Sun Burst recolored using PSE10 Styles Glass Buttons orange

Wonderful layout, Carol! Great composition and I loved reading your history lesson journaling! How interesting! Somewhere I have some wonderful pics of a cemetery in Turkey that we used to enjoy visiting - very old graves and beautiful markers.

You're fortunate to live in an area that is so rich in history! I truly appreciated this page...the colors of autumn in the leaves you added, your stitching, and awesome photos.

This sounds like a great place to visit, Carol. We have a large old cemetary near us that also runs tours every now & then & it is so interesting to see the old stones. The little lambs always make me sniffle.

Love the layout - the leaves look wonderful. Great photos & I love the multiple borders.

The starburst behind the central photo is great! your embellishments look like you plucked them right out of one of your pictures!
