Journaling:

Shoe Trees: I saw my first shoe tree in Arizona. No one really knows how they got started – You can find them all over the U.S. Some people think that it means the end of a journey. I like to think that it is the beginning of a new journey.

What a striking layout! I love the shade of blue in the background of your layout and your photo. I've never seen a shoe tree before...I'll have to look for them when I travel. I've seen shoes on the power lines before, but not a tree. Thanks for joining the swap!

I've never heard that expression before -- though I've seen trees (and electric and phone lines) with shoes dangling from them. Your photo is gorgeous! I especially like the way the shoes are silhouetted. Lovely bg and embellies, too.

The blue & white is very striking - it caught my eye right away. Wonderful sky behind your tree, too. I'm from the northeast and have never seen a shoe tree - perhaps it is a southern thing? I've heard of a bottle tree. Although like several others, I have seen shoes hanging from phone wires, but I don't think that's the same thing. I like the way the elements are clustered and the stitching is a nice touch.

Beautiful colours. The background reminds me of batik. I've seen shoe trees and shoe power lines every but especially in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The local mythology is that people come into the city to try their luck and when not finding it there, they throw their shoes over the power lines, they won't be needing them back in their villages. A thoughtful and interesting layout.

THis is gorgeous. Beautiful photo and I love how you tacked it and all the fancy pieces you used behind it. I really enjoyed your journaling as I read a book about shoe trees and coiuldn't imagine what they looked like.

Striking page.. Truly lovely.
