First the Ames Area Croppers, and now the So Sassy Scrappers/Night O.W.L.S. have been scrapbooking together since around 2002 and many of us have known each other through scrapbooking even longer than that. I count these women among my best friends and we make a wonderful support group for each other. Lori, Kathy and Brenda have organized a yearly retreat for us for about nine years now. It used to be at the Springhill Suites where Brenda worked, but now they found this fabulous retreat place. We basically rent the whole old awesome house for the weekend. Kathy does the majority of the cooking for us and we only have to leave to shop, lol.
There is plenty of scrapping, giggling, socializing, and Lori et al make up games like scrapbooking Bingo for prizes. Someone (Gina, then Kristina and I) makes up hourly challenges on Saturday for prizes. And each year there is a fun theme. I think you can easily guess what the theme was this year. And yes, that is me in the lower left wearing a cocunut bikini and grass skirt! The funny pic at right is Kathy playing a game where you had a dot of Vaseline on your nose and had to see how many cotton balls you could transfer. We laughed hysterically. Everyone was glad that Joellyn felt well enough to be with us Friday evening and much of Saturday as she was undergoing another round of treatment for ovarian cancer.
