All About Me - My Perfect Kitchen!

This was my "perfect" kitchen back in the 1970's and I was so proud of it. Wish I had more of a photo

of it. Didn't always have a camera back then though. This photo shows me standing at the original kitchen

cabinets that came with our home. My brother built us a beautiful island that helped to divide the big L-shaped

family room, kitchen and dining areas. And I don't have a photo of that island. But it was much, much lighter

than the chocolate colored cabinets in this photo and that's where my daffodil yellow countertops were. I loved the colors

I had chosen - I loved bold, bright colors. Now I kind of cringe at my feeble attempts to decorate my home back then.

But I am NOT embarrassed about them. Back then, those were the colors. And I was NOT a pro at decorating. I just

chose what I loved the most and LOVED it!!

Fantastic layout Jan! You know, the "retro style" is in, so it would be right in style once again :) I love the tattered paper and how we are "looking in" on you! Great Job on this!

Sounds very colorful. I am partial to color myself and if this made you happy, that's all that matters. Neat layout - the grungy background looks nice and I like the other papers, too. The window is a neat touch.

Oh, love this. What a great picture. I certainly do remember avocado and harvest gold appliances. Love your layering.

Great photo and I love the grungy paper you used to "frame" it! I remember those avocado and gold appliances too - sometimes I wish for those simpler times when I "had what I had" and was happy with it and didn't wish for more! Fabulous layout, Jan!

Great layout. Love the photo and background papers. You know, here in Florida there are lots and lots of homes still in original condition with avocado/gold kitchen appliances, pink, blue, yellow, green or even lavender tile bathrooms, including matching toilets, sinks and tubs! I think they are gems when found in original well-cared for condition. I once came across a home with baby pink kitchen appliances and dark wood cabinets - just amazing! Love the 70's retro feel of it. Well done.

What a creative way to preserve these memories! I like the pealing paint and flower print on the outsie of your "house", leading one in to see you in you kitchen. Very effective technique and cool effect!.

Way to scrap and old photo and memory. I was looking at some photos from my childhood and thinking about how not every photo was perfect because we never knew how they would turn out. Great job scraping a less than perfect photo. Love the distressed of the bg.
