Red-footed Booby, Galapagos
Not a layout - yet. DH and I returned from a three-week birding vacation in Ecuador and the Galapagos last week. I've just finished sorting through about 9,000 photos, winnowing them down to about 100, from which I need to select 25-30 for a holiday newsletter. I needed to share! I think this is my favorite. It's pretty much straight from the camera; I cropped a bit for better composition, and sharpened slightly, then added a stroke. I really was this close, and he seemed as curious about me as I was about him. Wheee!

What an amazing photo! The colors look so unrealistic it's amazing the bird really looks that way. Thanks for sharing!

He's precious. And you sure were close to him. How wonderful to be able to see birds this close up. His colorful face is fabulous, but I love his red feet are outstanding and very cute.
