yes, this would make a great tutorial! I love hybrid... I once produced and sold hybrid greeting cards (now they're in the Boutique but the marketing doesn't show how pretty they are with hybrid add-ons like glitter, rhinestones, and ribbons.

I really like the your box idea so that the album itself won't get dusty and worn over the years. (These things tend to be treasures for a very long time!)
