My templates are Brandy's ScrapSimple Digital Layout Album Templates: 12x12 Favorites 3 and Jacqui's ScrapSimple Type Paths: Shapes Plus - I rotated Brandy's template 90 degrees and substituted her journalling space with Jacqui's text path - this gave me half circle shaped text that stopped in all the right spots!

Journalling reads:

I searched high and low for information on what exactly this statue of Queen Victoria was about ... I loved the statue when I saw it in Ballarat - all carved in marble on a high pedestal and holding this tiny gold... fairy???

I found the following on melsnaps.blogspot.com.au

“This statue of Queen Victoria by B. Mackennal was erected in Queen Victoria Square directly opposite the front door of the Town Hall. In her right hand is her sceptre and in her left her orb topped with a gold winged figure of Victory. The statue was unveiled on 24 May 1900 and she has surveyed the realm ever since ”

So it turns out that the little gold figure is Victory! I liked the panels representing the major periods of her reign -

East is: 1837 The Accession (Men in frock coats telling her

the news.)

South is: 1838 The Coronation (The Queen seated with the orb and sceptre.)

West is: 1900 Australian Commonwealth (Signing the constitution.)

North is: 1897 The Diamond Jubilee (The Queen in her open carriage.)

at the base , but I especially love the austere look on her face and the touch of whimsy with the gold Victory statue in her hand...

After she reigned for so long and over so many distant lands, surely she earned the right to hold Victory in the palm of her hand??

Love the lace behind the photo and the heart marker around Victory. Your journalling is very interesting and the monotone color scheme is perfect for the photo. another great job!

I love the perspective on the Queen's photo - like she's looking down on us. :D I love your very proper colors and beautiful lace with just the proper amount of shine in your embellies. Splitting the circle between photo and journaling is a great idea, too. This is a beautiful layout, of which, I am sure, the Queen would approve.

Lovely Jode - great photo and perspective and I love how you framed it in the marble like circle. I really enjoyed your journaling - wow, how interesting. I like how you used the fancy lace and ribbon - gorgeous page and really grabbed my attention.

Beautiful layout, Jody. I especially like the way you angled the photo, lace and ribbons just a bit. It doesn't reduce her solemn majesty, but adds a little light-heartedness - suitable for a monarch holding victory in her hand.
