Friday 2/8 Scraplift Challenge- "NJ Lighthouses"

Looking through Cheri Thielekes' lovely gallery it was a hard decision picking one layout to scraplift. I finally chose her page,

"SLEEP, SLEEP, EAT & SLEEP" since it inspired me to try out the new Pocket Life Products I've already purchased but been afraid to use. I also liked Cheri's use of the blocks for photos and journaling, since templates and boxes are so outside my comfort zone. I'm not quite up to Cheri's success, but was pleased with my results.

For This Layout I used:

SNU SS Embellishment Templates: 8.5x11 - Pocket Life 6301

CRO Pocket Life: Rustic Charm Cards

CRO Shabby Shores Collection Mini

and my own photos

Journaling Reads:

"Sandy Hook Lighthouse

Sandy Hook Lighthouse, is the oldest working lighthouse in the United States. The light was built to aid mariners entering the southern end of the New York Harbor. Sandy Hook Lighthouse was restored in spring 2000, and is part of the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area administered by the National Park Service."

"NJ Shore Lighthouses

I took this photo from a window in the twin lights lighthouse. It looks out over Sandy Hook point and the Atlantic Ocean. Sadly, so much of this area was devastated in Hurricane Sandy and most of this National Park still remains closed with not much hope for summer opening."

"Twin Lights

The Navesink Twin Lights is a non-operational lighthouse & museum in Highlands, NJ overlooking Sandy Hook Bay, the entrance to the New York Harbor & the Atlantic Ocean. Its unique design & twin lights allowed ready identification by mariners, allowing a rough determination of their location approaching the harbor. "

I love lighthouses! Great photos. This works well with the Project Life grid arrangement - nice way to display the photos and little facts about each one.

Thanks for scraplifting!

Some of my favorite lighthouses! :) I love your page, Marilyn! The pocket life cards work really well here. I like how you journaled about each of the lighthouses and think that the nautical embellishments looks great. Interesting info, too!

I love these lighthouses -- and am also sad that Sandy Hook was so badly damaged by the hurricane. The arrangement with blocks of photos and journaling comes together really well on this page.

This is such a good page. I'm always looking for ways to scrap scenic photos (I photograph a lot more scenery than people) and this is a brilliant idea. What are the rules for scraplifting a scraplift? LOL.
