Thursday Challenge 2/14

A favorite technique: enhancing jpg photos in Adobe Camera Raw. I usually shoot in RAW and process in either Adobe Camera RAW or Lightroom4. But occasionally I need to do adjustments on a jpg photo, either from my iPhone camera or one someone has sent me or I've downloaded. Being able to open the photo in camera RAW is so easy from Bridge. Just select the jpg file and right click and in the menu that opens you have a choice to open in camera raw. select that and then you can do all the adjustments as if it were a RAW file. There is not as much information available in a jpg file, but you can still do quite a bit. In this example I adjusted the color balance, exposure and highlights, sharpened a bit and added post crop vignette. Not really major changes, just little tweaks.

Supplies used: Jif 6 by Amanda, Zip kit by Syndee and retired collection by Amanda McGee.

I didn't know you could edit jpegs in camera raw, thanks for telling us about it. I really like the messy stitched border and the background. Thanks for joining the challenge.

Super job enhancing your photo, Sandi and I love the composition of your layout! How fun that you and Barb can get together for these photo shoots! I am so rarely in any pics either and am always the one with the camera! LOVE your layout!

Neat layout, Sandi. I like the combination of color and pattern in your polka dots and plaid. What a great idea to meet for a photoshoot, too. And to take each other's photos - we tend not to have photos of ourselves.

I love your layout, Sandi! Your "little tweaks" added up to a WOW change in the photo. Thanks for the info! I love your background, especially with the blended cameras. Love the stitching, too!

Your 'little tweaks' really paid off. What a difference they made to your photo! And I love the simplicity of this LO, but with the arty touches in the papers. Your story made a great theme.

How wonderful to have a friend who shares your interest in photography. I like the strips of paper under the photos, it adds just the right amount of color.

I read an article on this last month but I am yet to try it... clearly I should as your adjustments look fantastic! You make it sound so simple too... yet clearly you are masterful at it :-) I am intrigued by your photos, a Museum of Glass? Wow. Lovely range of soft colours really bring this page to life. TFS - I am inspired by you!

How cool that you're able to meet for photography "dates" :) Super page - I like the dotty edges that make such a great frame for the page and the repeated element of cameras throughout.
