Project Life Week 6 (left side)
Journalling reads:
This whole week was all about Chinese New Year, whether we were preparing for it, or gathering for it and celebrating it. Most of the
decorations around the house are handmade, simply because the kids keep coming back from school and classes with them. Midweek, we take a trip to Sutera Mall to buy bak kwa and oranges, not expecting to see a lion dance performance and also get our picture taken with 财神爷(god of fortune). (Neko-chan is more interested in the chocolate coins that both the lion and 财神爷 hand out to shoppers.)
On 除夕 (Chinese New Year's Eve) we have the customary steamboat reunion dinner with Waipo and Jiujiu, while Ah Gong wants to be different this year and opts for lunch at Ichiban Sushi. 初一 (first day of CNY) this year is also special, as a record number of four Goh siblings gather together at Yong Peng for lunch!
Note: Chinese New Year's Eve is a very important day in the Chinese lunar calendar. This is the day where ethnic Chinese all over the world make their way back home for a reunion meal with their family. For many aged parents whose grown children have left home and settled in faraway cities, this is the time where they get to see (almost) all their children together. Similarly for us 'children', the older we get, the more special this day becomes!
Supplies in EXIF, thanx for looking. =)
P/S: i couldn't resist including the photo of my daughter bawling over her homework, even though it doesn't fit the theme! =P
