3/9/13 Saturday Color Challenge: "Happy Birthday!"

I love these photos from my first birthday party as so many family members were involved and present to help me celebrate. My Godmother, Auntie Sue made me a "Merry-Go-Round" cake which remained my favorite so was repeated a few times in later years. Since my birthday fell on Ash Wednesday and the first day of Lent, I had a "Mardi Gras" party the day before instead so everyone could enjoy and eat cake. The house was decorated and festive with streamers, hanging balls, etc. and it appears I enjoyed my first piece of cake, too.

Journaling Reads -

"My first birthday fell on Ash Wednesday, so my Party was a festive “MardiGras” one the day before. All my grandparents, cousins, aunts, great-aunts and uncles were there to enjoy and celebrate with me."

For this layout I used:

SNU SS Embellishment Templates: Photo Clusters

BMU SS Styles - Sequin Sparkles-Gradients 8501 Tool Set Super Biggie (retired)

Oh!!!! I just love seeing your baby photos, you were such a sweetie! So interesting to hear about your Mardi Gras party - no wonder you still love a good party, you were born into it! I love all the colour against your b&w photos and especially love seeing your mum's smiling face there with you. Fun page!

What a fun idea for a birthday party! I love your princess dress and that fancy cake! The photos look so sweet in the circles, and I love the whole festive look to your layout. Adorable! PS -- Did they really put you behind bars in a play pen on your BIRTHDAY?

Neat page, Marilyn. Love the mix of patterned papers and bold colors. The circles add a festive feel also. Happy Birthday!

The black and white photos are such a great choice for the abundance of colour in your layout. We must be of about the same "vintage", I have photos of me in the stiff meringue style dresses too. Wonderful page.

I too love the BW photos and the sparkle circle framing. I love the dress you have on, so sweet. I also love that cake! Wow, a Merry Go Round Cake hand made by Grandma. It looks wonderful in the picture but I am sure it was awesome in person. Great job on the 3D Happy and using such fun colors in the background.

This page is so full of great things-your bright, colorful background layers beneath the b/w photos makes the pictures stand out (great framing circles) Your title is so pretty. You're a little doll! Plus --- you've got really great hair!!!
