Blue Winged Teal - Color Chall. 3/30/13

DH snapped this male blue-winged teal, in full breeding plumage, last Friday. When I saw the photo on Saturday, it seemed perfect for the color challenge. It turned out that the range of browns in the photo are quite a bit more saturated than the shades in the palette, but they are fairly monochromatic. I love the reflection in the brown water of the oxbow lake. I wasn't entirely successful in removing the green from the cattail leaves, but I tried! Thanks for the challenge, Marilyn.

Oh Jo - I love your bird layouts and this gorgeous one doesn't disappoint. Wow.... Your photo is super and I love the reflection - how lucky you are to have your own photographer that takes such great pics! I think you did a lovely job with the colors and used them perfectly. Your background blending and masking is so pretty and really show off your pic even more and I really like your cattail/embellishment cluster and title. You created such a beautiful page. Thanks for adding your interpretations and shades to this week's color challenge!

I love the golds and browns in this one. Great patterns and blending. I really like the overlay of the foliage on top of that gorgeous photo. The cattails are the perfect accent! Such a rich, warm layout. Simply stunning!

Oh, awesome layout! Love that photo of the bird. I think that the cattails still have a hint of green actually adds to the layout. What a great shade of brown you used & the blended papers look wonderful.

You've combined, in a wonderful way, two of my favorite things in your layout: waterbirds and background blending. :D Needless to say this gorgeous layout you made is going straight into my favorites! Thanks for sharing.
