Monday Challenge 7-8-13 "Twin Lights"

The Twin Lights lighthouse is a pair of beacons located 246 feet above sea level in is in Highlands, NJ where I spent my childhood summers. A lighthouse has existed on this site since 1828, when it became an important guide and landmark for ships navigating the treacherous entrances to New York Harbor. This one was built in 1862 and overlooks Sandy Hook Bay, the entrance to the New York Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean.

When I was a little girl I could see one light blinking from my bed at night.

For this layout I used:

JZI Upon A Watercolor Sea Collection

BMU Dynamic Brush Set: Background Blenders

BMU SS Paper Templates: BG Blenders 4

and my own photo

interesting! I love reading about your landmarks and where they are... that is a long time for a lighthouse to be on that spot, clearly it is a busy spot :-) Great photo to fit in the whole building! Love your extraction and blending into the paper as a sky and the colour the embellishments add... great balance on your page!

I love your layout and photo of the lighthouse! The layers and edging looks great. I just love lighthouses for some reason. On trips sometimes I try to find all of the area lighthouses. Nice use of the blenders and collections.

Great shot of this historic landmark. I love the story behind your page and I really like how you blended the wood and sky BG papers together. Nice!

Oh Marilyn - your LO is gorgeous (as usual) but the thing I like most was your narration. I can just imagine you as a little girl, tucked into bed and watching the blinking light.

This is one of my favorite buildings, too! I used to love climbing it, and DH and I often brought our kids here for picnics. You've really captured it beautifully here. I love your colors and blending and your interesting journaling. I love the way you've framed it with nautical embellishments, too. :)

Great background papers and blending with your photo. The sky looks awesome. I really like that photo too, the twin lighthouses look huge and you can really see the scale with the people in the photo. Its a beautiful structure, the top light turrets are really lovely.
