Papa's SEARS House

When I first saw this Monday's challenge, I knew I didn't have pictures of old buildings such as churches, castles & county seats. But then I read that 50 years old was adequate - and I have lots of photos of my grandfather's (Papa") Sears house, pictures he took, and probably printed himself. The house was assembled before my parents' marriage, and I am way older than 50 years. This is the outcome. I really wanted a blue print/floor plan background. I looked online for plans of Sears houses, and found lots, but not this plan. So I used Thao's House & Home paper, merging just the floor plans from two papers. Then I reduced the 12 x 12 paper to 4 x 4, duplicated it three times, and rotated each into a different orientation, and merged the result. I think it fits my original idea fairly well. AND the challenge fits into a family album I'm working on [very slowly : ( ]

Thanks for the challenge and prompt, Valerie!

Very cool old photos! I like the progression in black and white and the finished house in color. You did a fabulous job with the background and embellishments, too. Thanks for letting us know how you did it.

I saw a documentary on these Sears houses - quite innovative for its time. How wonderful to have those pictures and story. I think your manipulation of the papers is wonderful --- great LO.

You have put this all together so wonderfully. The picture definitly tell a story, the color palette is perfect, and the embellishments are just the right mix. Beautiful work.
