Aug 3 - Sat Color - Old Pants, New Shorts

So this is what my Sunday looks like. Went through the kids clothes yesterday to determine what fits as school starts in a couple weeks. Old Navy made really great uniform pants a couple of years ago. These were Jaxon's school pants. He has torn the left knee out of all of them but they are so well made that I am attempting to hem them into shorts for Dylan. Luckily, we can wear uniform shorts to school here most of the year. I went to Old Navy yesterday to buy new pants for Jaxon and the quality has really gone downhill. The material is thin, not soft or brushed and not reinforced in the knee as the others were, poor stitching. Price is still the same but material and manufacture far inferior. I commented to the sales staff, they said they agreed! I left the store. I have not properly hemmed pants into shorts before. I have hand-sewn Jaxon's long pants hem, where you can't see the hem so well because it's close to the floor. These will be shorts so I've been watching You Tube videos, doesn't appear to be too difficult. Anyway, I've procrastinated enough, now that this layout is done, off I go.....

Clever LO, Cheryl! I like how you placed the quote -- and title. This is one of those LO where I want to study each and every embellie that you placed. So well done and it's a cool LO to remember mommy duties! Excellent page.
Well done! Love this page (I had two boys who were always sliding on their knees - even denim can't take a lot of that!) Love the sewing machine, hanger and scissors embellishments and the photo of the pants. I love it that you decided to do your LO before hemming - lol.
Hahaha, loved reading your notes, Cheryll Ann and I'm wondering how those shorts turned out! What a great idea to make them and wow, so funny about always the left knee! I like how you used the arrows to point this out and I LOVE how you framed your pic and the great sewing embellishments you used. I also really like how you put your background together so creatively - it looks great! Awesome page, I really enjoyed it. :)
Holy cow! I think you have the longest list of supplies ever. The page looks great, love all the little sewing embellishments. You do have to wonder about the left knee thing. You'd think it would be both of them. Very interesting saga. Hope the shorts come out well. Youtube is great though. I'm sure you will do fine.
How funny it's always the same leg that wears out! Great use of the sewing machine embellie and I love how you hung the hangers on the page.
Such a clever and wonderful layout. And so true. I have a 'boy' of 70 and his knees are still all torn. Beautiful layout with all the flags and bits and pieces.
I like how you used the sewing machine and the chevrons! Boys are rough on clothes for sure, glad you can make the shorts work tho!
