Visiting the Louvre, p.1 of 2
Journaling for this page, and its companion page:
We decided to "divide and conquer" – not just the city, but also the kids' competition! Mark & Sean went to the Louvre, while David & I went to a laundromat.
Gorgeous morning, clear & cool after the rain. We got back together for a lovely lunch at an outdoor café. Sean & David are becoming experts on "croque monsieur", grilled ham & cheese open-faced sandwiches served all over Paris. Their other favorite food here is hot dogs stuffed into toasted French bread baguettes.
Mark kept the boys for a nap, and I went to the Louvre. I liked it, but the crowds are a bit overwhelming. Actually, the crush wasn't as bad as the din, especially in the central area under the pyramid. The pyramid doesn't look as peculiar as I expected. Also, it provides a much-needed central space for the museum, with daylight.
(I loved the sculpture!)
