Thursday Challenge August 15, 2013: "Look Into My Eye"

This layout is for the Thursday Challenge on Art Journaling which you can read about it HERE.

Can you tell the kind of day I was having when I did this page? Not a "pretty" sight, but it's accurate to how I was feeling. I did a lot of journaling in the background, but it wasn't something I wanted to share so I used a "soft light" blend at 80% opacity on it, so it almost becomes part of my background design. When it still looked too readable, I then duplicated the layer and moved it a tiny bit from under the original and it became less readable, more of a design feature.

For this layout I used:

JZI Darkness Falls Collection Mini

BMU SS Tools - Actions: Sketch It

BMU SS Paper Templates: Lighting Effects

BMU SS Paper Templates: Edgers Biggie

LBW After the Rain

Whoa.... what a powerful and evocative page -you were really having a BAD day!!! Love the word art and the scribble all hidden deep down inside - with the use of the fence and underground... and the eye on the house... very meaningful symbolism, terrific journaling too!

You really have this art journaling thing down pat, Marilyn! This is AWESOME! I agree with Jody - what a bad day you were having and you've expressed it sooooo well! I hope I can do better with this week's challenge! LOVE your page!

Straight from the heart!

First of all, I'm sorry you were having such a bad day! But... but... what a page! It is an incredible LO I love it! I love how you have placed all your emotions in one pile behind a gate or fence and then scribbled all around it! Your eye on the house is also a strong expression.

Expressionism at its best! Wow

Incredible Marilyn, and yes we all have bad days, so lets not be afraid to scrap about the good and the bad. Love how you have all those jumbled words behind the fence - we're very good sometimes at masking over how we're really feeling when we communicate with those around us. Great page - thank you.

Wow! How brave you are to put your thoughts down on paper. I had a day like this recently, so I know how you feel. This is an incredible page and I love that you did it in black and gray. I love that house with the eye. It's very dark and spooky. But I love it.

My goodness Marilyn. I'm so sorry for your bad day. I hope it didn't carry into the next day or week. But what a magnificent way to recognize it and deal with it. I could identify with it so much and I'm so glad to see that you were not afraid to put something so personal out for others to observe.

I personally think it is awesome you scrapped this. Life is not all about vacations and babies. This is what you experienced and it is worth recording. Good for you.

PS..Hope you are feeling better ;)

Wow. I so totally understand this page. I have a sweet daughter who has more days like this than sunny ones. If I'm not careful it creeps into my life, too. Thanks for sharing this.

This is great, Marilyn. I love how we can write our feelings out and yet not easily read. I never would put things in writing about myself before. Your design is so interesting and fun to look at. I hope you can keep on with the art journaling. It helps everyone.

This is amazing, Marilyn! What a brave act to post such raw true emotion and look at all the people who can relate and who you touched. You touched me:) So beautiful!
