I've spent some time this summer researching my husband's side of the family. My searching took me to findagrave.com where I discovered this wonderful photo (and more), and a distant cousin with whom I have been corresponding!

journaling:

Born: Feb. 10, 1819

Died: Apr. 9, 1907

Moses Sammis was my husband's 3rd Great Grandfather on his mother's side.

Wow, what a great photo and treasured find, Becky! I really like how you framed it and the dark background shows it off so well. Super embellishments and title, too.

Oh, I love, love, love genealogy. Wonderful photo and, like Marilyn, I like how you framed it on black to really pop it from the rest of the page. The border really finishes the entire page off. Very nice.

What a great photo! I love old photos, and have enjoyed looking into genealogy as well. Fascinating stuff! Your layout really captures the era, and I love that you've added the colorful cluster accent to it!

I love finding family photos that are new to me online! The dark background with the ornate gold border is so elegant, and the simple floral cluster in the corner is just the right touch for a masculine page. Very nice heritage layout!
